The 24-year-old was adopted by an Italian family when he was just five years old. He started running at a young age, and quickly showed great promise as he broke national records in the U20 and U23 ranks.
A star is born
Crippa won his first medal at the 2018 European Championships when he finished third in the 5000 meters. He followed that up with another bronze medal in the 10,000 meters at the 2020 European Championships.
